Here's the story

We were a bit concerned that, despite the letters sent out about the Garston docks planning application, people were saying they were unaware. So my colleague spoke to the press yesterday. Here's a link to a story in the Liverpool Echo.

thankyou for talking t the press about this. my own councillors seem not to want to do anything but sit in a hall talking.

Paula,
will you and the Liverpool Liberal democrat party be opposing this proposal?

Clearly people in Garston are against the development therefore they have a right to know the view of their elected representatives both within their ward and across the city.

Peter Millea, Richard Oglethorpe and I are all opposing this proposal. In fact I have this very morning been out delivering a leaflet to say so. I have already been giving help to some constituents with individual letters of opposition and am more than happy to do the same for others. If anyone wants to contact me separately about this, please e mail me at paula.keaveney@liverpool.gov.uk.

People may also be interested to know that a constituent has set up a website to assist with objections. This is very new and is at www.stopthelorries.com. I have put a link to this on a more recent story on the blog.

It is impossible to talk about the views of other councillors across the City for the simple reason that any intimation of party political voting at planning committee - by Lib Dems, Labour, Green or Liberal - would open the decision of the committee up to appeal. It could also possibly open those councillors up to a standards committee investigation and penalties. For the avoidance of doubt, neither Peter, Richard or I are on the planning committee.
